Trying to keep busy and finding things to do this week. I finally finished editing a set of portfolio images for the daughter of a friend that I shot just a couple of weeks ago, not realizing at the time, of course, that it would be our last shoot before this whole COVID-19 thing shut everything down.
I met Claudia a couple of years ago when I was shooting a boudoir session with her mother, who is now a friend and we’ve shot a number of times together over the last couple of years. Claudia is a very striking and beautiful young lady who became interested in modeling and attended the workshop that my friends Paul Girvan, Paul Vienneau and Vicki Martin put on about 2 years ago. Her dad is also a very good photographer of note, so I was incredibly flattered and excited when she contacted me a little while ago to say she was going to Toronto for a model convention and wanted me to help kick off her “official” portfolio collection.
She had a fairly specific list of “shots” the agencies asked for including typical head shot, full length shot, and so on. We also spent some time talking about the “look” she wanted to portray. Since she just turned 19, we didn’t want to create overly “sexualized” images but we also didn’t want to portray her as a “child” but instead wanted to show a range she was comfortable within and I think we hit it out of the park!
Claudia has matured into a fine young woman since I first met her and as I mentioned, she is now 19 years old and very confident in what she wants to accomplish and where she wants to go with this. I applaud that confidence and think she is destined for some great things and I hope someday we look back on these initial photo shoot warmly and have a good laugh over the “early days” of her modeling career. I wish her the absolute best on her path.
Ladies and gentlemen, meet Claudia.
